Bell Work 1/19/16 Last week we finished up by talking about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. How would this be a part of the Japanese strategy to take over Pacific Ocean? Would it have the desired effect that the Japanese were hoping? Explain in your journal. (page 557)

After Pearl Harbor on the Home Front… Japanese government: “The US is now reduced to a third-rate power and is trembling in her shoes.” Truth: Battle cry of “Remember Pearl Harbor” united many Americans with rage not fear to fight and prove the Japanese wrong.

Essential Question EQ: How did America mobilizing for the war impact American citizens? I will explain the effects mobilization had on Americans and argue if the changes were necessary.

US is getting ready to fight WWII 1941 was significant year for two reasons: 1. Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. 2. Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. They needed to prepare the nation on homefront to fight the war. Women began to serve the military in non-combat positions. ***America was ready to fight, but was taunted by the Japanese.
