Project Sustainability YearActionOutcome 1Establish regular schedule for drop off dates Facilitate drop off dates for county residents Maintain mulch/compost product A formal yard-waste drop off program will be established, allowing all Franklin County residents to more easily dispose of compostable material, and Franklin County will begin gathering data on landfill diversion. 2Maintain mulch/compost product Examine needs for expansion of drop off dates Increase resident education on compost The existing drop off program will be maintained, and Franklin County will work on resident education, so all residents understand the importance of landfill diversion and can learn ways to make composting easier at home. 3 Maintain mulch/compost product Investigate resident giveaway for mulch Investigate expansion for food waste and/or business composting During the third year, the drop-off program and compost process will be running efficiently, and Franklin County will work on giving the material back to the residents, creating an incentive for the program. In addition, as the compost process is running efficiently, Franklin County will work on expanding the compost material to food waste and increasing zero-waste community events.
