Benefits of Telecommuting for Employers & Employees

What is Telecommuting? The term telecommuting was coined by Jack Niles in 1973 and is basically an arrangement with an employer and employees in which employees are allowed flexibility in where and when they perform their job tasks. Telecommuting allows you to work from anywhere you want while still holding down the responsibilities of an office.

Benefits of Telecommuting: Recent studies revealed that working in a remote area can increase productivity and decrease stress. Research also suggests companies that encourage and support a work from remote area protocol actually save money in the long run; an added bonus on the employer side.

Increased Productivity: Telecommuting results in a 10-20% increase in employee productivity. Often times, the time spent at the office are filled with unproductive tasks such as: chatting with co- workers, surfing the web, long lunches etc.
