Solving Rational Inequalities By Matthew Cornman & Lucas Harper

How Do You Solve Rational Inequalities? Find The Zeros (from the numerator) Find the undefined Points (From the Denominator) Divide the number line into intervals. Find the sign of the rational on each interval.

Things to Remember When dividing or multiplying by a negative number FLIP THE SIGN! Turn Or This To > <

Line If there is a line under the inequality that means that the number is also equal to the number it is associated with

Example 1 4x + 6 < 3x + 2

Example 2 -4x > 100

Example 3 5x-6 > x+2

Example 4 7+4x > 6+ (1/2)

Example 5 (2/3)x+1 > 5

Process The PowerPoint will be played and the little bit of information will remind the students of things they may have forgotten. Once the examples are displayed we will take the markers and solve the problems on the white board as needed. There will be handouts for the students, however whatever problems need to be taught again will be repeated on the board using a slower pace and different techniques.
