Physical Geography of Europe Europe is a peninsula. –Water on three sides High latitude –½ of Europe is above the 49 th paralell. Climate like Canada. –South of Europe has a climate like the south of the U.S. Mountains go East to West instead of North to South like in the U.S. Major rivers for import and export of goods.

How Europe shaped the world First civilization to conduct: –Major world exploration. –Major world trade. –Colonize (take over) other parts of the world.

Why did Europe decline? Wars—lots of them. Rising stature of the United States. Decline of imperialism and colonization. –Loss of raw materials.
