Webfolio and gateway problems There are lots of submissions to the gateway from some students There are lots of versions of the webfolio in the asset store Students have problems maintaining only one webfolio Students don’t know whether the webfolio is already in the gateway or not 3 AA Nov 10

Don’t work with individual assets This is the best way of getting into a mess! Each form should be accessed via the webfolio, NOT directly from the asset store 4 AA Nov 10

Show only webfolios If you get in the habit of showing only webfolios, you won’t accidentally work on the wrong form 5 AA Nov 10

Temptation removed! I can now view the webfolio and complete the form from the webfolio page In this example I have only a few webfolios If you have dozens of webfolios with different names, it is possible to search by keyword 6 AA Nov 10

Multiple copies of the same webfolio? Find out if you have multiple copies of the same webfolio by searching using a keyword You only need to do this is you have many differently named webfolios 7 AA Nov 10

Which version have you been working on? Unfortunately there is no easy way to tell from the asset store The date displayed is the date of creation, not the last date it was edited You may know from the date e.g. if you know that you last worked on the asset BEFORE a date you can delete anything with the later date (If you have got it wrong, it is possible to retrieve assets that you deleted by mistake) 10 AA Nov 10

Multiple copies of the webfolio? Each time you copy a webfolio, you get an identically named webfolio with identically named forms downloaded to your asset store If you have 5 webfolios for PPDM you will also have 5 copies of each form e.g. Personality test Each form belongs to its own ‘parent’ webfolio This is why it is important to access the form from the webfolio, not directly from the form in the asset store window AA Nov 10 12

Mark webfolios you want to keep (1) Add comments to show what you have completed in this version 13 AA Nov 10

Mark webfolios to tell them apart It will be helpful to both you and your tutors if you can identify which are the webfolios that are of value You can add comments to the webfolio to show which forms have been completed You can change the title that displays in the asset store so you can quickly see which ones are useful (or not) e.g. “PPDM Portfolio – 22/11/10” or “PPDM Portfolio – delete” You can also tag the asset AA Nov 10 14

Use the Info tab The info tab tells you whether assets are sent to a gateway, tagged, commented etc You can use this to check each of your assets 17 AA Nov 10

Do some housekeeping If you have more than one webfolio with forms completed, is it possible to copy and paste the contents from one to the other, and only work with a single copy? If so, delete any webfolios you no longer need Note - this will only get rid of the webfolio, not the forms However, if you always complete the form by means of the webfolio, you will not accidentally complete the “wrong” form AA Nov 10 18

Recovering deleted assets You can always retrieve anything you have deleted by mistake by viewing the contents of the trash can 20 AA Nov 10

The contents of your gateway On the left of the screen, select the gateway you belong to and you will see what you have already sent Don’t keep clicking this!!! It adds new copies to your asset store! 22 AA Nov 10

Removing stuff from gateways Select the asset and from the info tab click on the gateway info You can then remove the asset from the gateway 23 AA Nov 10

Uploading files problems At present it is not possible to upload your report, letter etc by clicking on the link in the webfolio The work around for this problem is for you to use the webfolio in Edit mode rather than view mode AA Nov 10 24

Select your report Select the file you want to add either by browsing your computer or adding it from your asset store AA Nov 10 26

Asset is now linked to webfolio The asset link now displays in the webfolio Clicking the link will open the report AA Nov 10 27

Info is updated If you select the info tag you can see that an asset has been linked AA Nov 10 28

Uploading video problems You can upload files up to 10 MB in size to PebblePad Video files are likely to exceed this Use YouTube to store your video Mark as ‘unlisted’ so the public can’t find it but it can be copied Copy the code to add to your PebblePad page AA Nov 10 29

YouTube view Edit the video you want to include Scroll down to the Broadcasting and Sharing options Mark it as Unlisted and copy the link AA Nov 10 30

Sharing your webfolio If you have sent your webfolio to the gateway, you don’t need to share anything with your tutor Anything that is on the gateway automatically updates each time you complete a form etc Instead of sharing the asset, send an to your tutor asking them to look on the gateway If you really want to share the asset, share the whole webfolio, not the individual forms Don’t send individual forms to the gateway – only the webfolio! 34 AA Nov 10
