 Wears MANY hats: Teacher, Leader, Counselor, Administrator, Prayer warrior, CFO

Care, feeding, protection, growth of the flock  Teach (reveal) the Word  Disciple next generation of pastors  Exhort, intercede (prayer and counseling)  Cast vision for in-growth and out-reach,  Put out fires by speaking truth

Places himself between the flock and the destroyer (Num. 16:41-48) 41 The next day, the entire community of Bnei-Yisrael grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You killed A DONAI ’s people!” 42 But when they gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the Tent of Meeting, behold, the cloud covered it and the glory appeared! 43 Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting. 44 A DONAI spoke to Moses saying, 45 “Get away from among this assembly so that I may immediately consume them!” So they fell on their faces. 46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take the censer, put into it fire from the altar and put in incense. Get going and hurry to the assembly and make atonement for them, because wrath has come out from A DONAI and the plague has started.”

 47 Aaron did just as Moses had said, and ran into the middle of the assembly. Behold, the plague had already started among the people. But he offered the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 He stood between the dead and the living and the plague stopped. 49 …(14,700 died from the plague, besides those who died because of Korah.)

 1 Tim 3:2-7 2 An overseer, then, must be beyond criticism—the husband of one wife, clear-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine, not violent but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money, 4 managing his own household well, keeping his children under control with all respectfulness. 5 (For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s community?)… 7 …have a good reputation with those outside, so that he will not fall into disgrace and the devil’s trap.

 His own house and personal walk are in right order  Serving FIRST, Leading SECOND (Moses)  Honor publicly, rebuke privately

 “Who died and left you in charge?”  Bishop picked you WITH God’s blessing /authority  Ancient days: a Rabbi picked the best of the best to follow in his footsteps  Yeshua picks…the best of the best?

Matt 4:18-22  18 Now as Yeshua was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Shimon who was called Peter and Andrew his brother. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.  21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, Jacob the son of Zebedee and John his brother. They were in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.

 Desires God’s heart: love & hate what God does  Allows God to humble/break him  Sends a member of the flock out with a blessing: takes responsibility, not ownership

Touch the Untouchable (from “Risen”) (Mark 1:40-44)  40 A man leprosy came to Him, begging Him and falling on his knees, saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”  41 Moved with compassion, Yeshua stretched out His hand and touched him. He said, “I am willing. Be cleansed.” 42 Immediately, the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.  43 Yeshua sent him away at once, sternly warning him. 44 He said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go show yourself to the kohen (priest). Then, for your cleansing, offer what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
