Identify and Describe  AAA – Agricultural adjustment administration – paid farmers not to grow certain crops  TVA – Tennessee Valley Authority - Built dams to provide cheap electric power to seven southern states; set up schools and health centers.

 FDIC- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – Insured savings accounts in banks approved by government  Social Security – Set up a system of pensions for elderly, unemployed, and handicapped.  CCC – Civilian Conservation Corp – provided jobs to young men to plant trees, build bridges and parks, and set up flood control projects.

 WPA- Works Progress Administration – employed men and women to build hospitals, schools, parks and airports: employed artists, writers, and musicians  Bank holiday – FDR closed the nation’s banks by declaring a bank holiday in order to stop the collapse of the national banking system.  Wagner Act – guaranteed labor the right to form unions and to practice collective bargaining. Also known as National Labor Relations Act.
