How to Calculate Percent Change

Example 1: Original Price = $4 New Price = $3 Find the Percent Change in the prices

Step 1: Plug in your values Original Price = $4 New Price = $3

Step 2: Simplify the fraction

Step 3: Convert the fractions to a decimal

Step 4: Convert the decimal to a percent by moving the decimal point 2 places to the right

Step 5: Decide if the price went up increase or if the price went down decrease Original Price = $4 New Price = $3 DECREASE

Step 6: Write the percent change with the description

Example 2: Original Price = $4 New Price = $5 Find the Percent Change in the prices
