o Educational leaders must have understanding and experience in: 1.Basic software applications  Microsoft Office Suites 2.Complex electronic information resources  Database like WebPams Necessary to make efficient and effective decisions to support administrative and instructional goals.

o Educational leaders must have understanding and experience in: 3.Using various Web 2.0 tools to communicate, collaborate, teach, and learn effectively among administration, colleagues, parents, and students.  Google Drive  , Wikis, Blogs, Social networking, podcasts, videocasts, etc.

o Educational leaders must be able to: 4.Envision a technology plan for the school/district based upon an assessment of current school/district’s technologies, curriculum needs and direction, and current and future technology trends in education. 5.Identify and maintain funding needed to support the current and future technology applications and goals.

o Educational leaders must be able to: 6.Establish hardware, software, and people to provide for the technological needs of the entire school/district. 7.Initiate policies, procedures, and professional development for the usage and application of technology for administrators and teachers.

o Educational leaders must be able to: 8.Actively address equity, ethical, and social issues as they relate to technology. 9.Establish a variety of strategies and techniques for evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of all technologies within the school/district.

o To determine the topic of the professional development, I would consider several factors: o The observations of administrators, supervisors, and consultants o The testing data (iLEAP, LEAP, EAGLE, teacher-made tests, etc.) o The curriculum needs (project-based learning) o The request from the teachers/staff

o Google Apps for Education o Free o Various tools o Constantly improving o Online lesson plan resource center to accompany book Google Apps Meets Common Core

o Overview of plan o Designate a teacher to be the school’s Technology Coach and Coordinator (STC). o Purchase a mobile tablet lab for 32 students. o Purchase 15 tablets for each core teacher. o Initiate and establish technology professional development sessions twice a month. Budget: $50,000

o Plan Details o The School Technology Coach and Coordinator (STC) would be selected by the principal. This teacher would receive a $4,000 stipend. The STC responsibilities will include performing all the responsibilities mentioned in this presentation. o 48 Microsoft Surface RT 32G tablets will be purchased. The STC and the core teachers in the school will receive on as a training and teaching tool. The remaining 32 will be used to create a mobile tablet lab. A storage cart will be purchased. Budget: $50,000

o Plan Details o After-school professional development for technology training will be established and instructed by the STC. Teachers would receive a stipend of $30 per hour. Teachers will meet for 2 hours a month for 7 months. During these trainings, teachers will work on improving the usage and navigation of school administrative programs as well as other instructional programs that can be used in the classroom. It will be hands-on and productive. Flipped PD strategy will be used. Budget: $50,000
