Special Attention & Noteworthy Incidents Fraud: : On 1/15,. Suspect contacted victim by about purchasing the items on Craigslist and forwarded a cashier’s check. On 1/17, the Victim received a call from a man with broken English, stating that the extra money was for shipping. Victim said they would not forward the money for shipping. Victim agreed to refund some money back to him. On 1/16 Victim went to the bank to see if the check cleared and the Victim proceeded to send the money via wire transfer. However on 1/20, the check status became insufficient funds : On 1/28 at 0930hrs, the Vic received phone call from “Officer Mark Wilson” from South Kingston PD in Rhode Island. The Victim says the Suspect spoke with a thick accent. The Suspect told the Victim that he needed to pay an overdue student tax or his daughter would be arrested. Call ID was coming from South Kingston PD is aware of scam calls connected with the police department’s non-emergency number. Warrant: : On 1/31 at 1950hrs, Officers noticed a subject, holding a plastic bag standing in front of a building. As police slowed to look at the S=suspect, the suspect ran away. Officers exited their vehicle and asked if they could ask some questions. The Suspect continued to run away and when ordered to stop, continued to run away. Officers pursued the Suspect on foot. The Suspect was eventually caught. The Suspect had seven outstanding warrants and was arrested.
