October 14, 2014 ALILA HIGHLIGHT REEL

 I saw some pretty amazing learning in classrooms this week! The 3 rd grade does an outstanding job of planning! They had their students working on arrays. Below is a photo from Mrs. Bassett’s room where students were engaged in showing various ways to show their knowledge about arrays. If you get time, stop by any 3 rd grade classroom to check out the posters the students created. They are AMAZING and that’s why they made it on the AMAZING CLASSROOMS OF THE WEEK! AMAZING CLASSROOMS OF THE WEEK

 Mrs. Medina’s class integrated ART into their final assignments after finishing reading Esperanza Rising. After determining that “every rose has it thorns”, the class project was to write down all of the “thorns” Esperanza had been through. They are continuing to work on their rose and I can’t wait to see the final product! AMAZING CLASSROOMS OF THE WEEK CONT.

 Mr. Angeles had his students working on a flow map after reading Esperanza Rising. They cut up the events of the story, put them in order, and glued them on their paper. They also got to illustrate their paper when they were done. AMAZING CLASSROOMS OF THE WEEK CONT.

 Mr. Stringham is using technology to engage his students during ELA time. In this photo, students were supposed to respond to some questions related to their reading of Esperanza Rising. AMAZING CLASSROOMS OF THE WEEK CONT.

 Come one, come all! WOW! We had a lot of moms show up for breakfast with their student! Kathy Molina from Food Service did a great job setting up a nice table with all the food items. Blanca Esparza had a lot of information in the back of the cafeteria for parents. AND…we had a TON of staff show up!! Alila is the place to be! A BIG shout out to the 3 rd grade who had EVERY SINGLE TEACHER show up to hang out and build relationships with parents and staff! I also saw several 4 th and 5 th grade staff hanging out! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for giving up some of your time in the morning to come and build relationships!  Take a moment to take a look at all the smiles…… MOM’S AND MUFFINS (AND A FEW DAD’S TOO)

LOOK AT THOSE SMILES!

 Thank you to Mrs. Flores and the noon duty crew for making Fun Friday a huge success every week! The kids are loving the organized games and dancing! Even teachers are getting in on the action! Gooooo EAGLES! FUN FRIDAY!

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT NEXT WEEK BRINGS….
