Like the society it is based out of, the journal was renamed Archives and Records: The Journal of the Archives and Records Association as of the 2013 volume (Journal Information, 2013). It was founded in 1955, is on its 34 th volume, and all issues are available online with a subscription (List of Issues, 2013). The audience for the journal consists of “archivists, archive conservators and records managers, as well as to all involved in the study and interpretation of archives” (Journal of the ARA, 2013).

“Archives and Records aims to represent current professional practices and research” (Journal of the ARA 2013). “Archives and Records is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research contributions to scientific knowledge”. “…the journal deals with the very latest developments in these fields, including the challenges and opportunities presented by new media and information technology” (Aims and Scope 2013).
