Hurricane Gustav 2008 City of Naples

Due to the fact that it was high tide, when Hurricane Gustav went by Naples in the Gulf of Mexico, localized street flooding was seen especially near the city dock, and properties located along Naples Bay.

The area around Cove Inn was especially wet and in some areas difficult to distinguish where land stopped and the bay started.

The Landings dock couldn’t even be seen other than the tops of pilings due to high tide and rainfall. Streets in this area saw up to 6 or more inches in a matter of hours.

Parking lots and neighborhoods in Old Naples saw major street flooding but there were no reports of structures having water damage.

Crayton Cove had the deepest street flooding recorded during the flood event. As the photos show water did come all the way up to the buildings but none of the commercial businesses in the area reported any flood damage.

As Hurricane Gustav worked its way past Naples the beach tides roared all the way up to the dune lines and in some places came right up to the walkovers.
