Summer To-Do: Getting a TX Food Handlers Card By: Zai Estabillo Blogger and Food Enthusiast

Summer To-Do: Getting a TX Food Handlers Card Summer has officially begun and the season brings out customers willing to dine and socialize. Go all out to keep customers coming by the restaurant and offer them a safe and healthful place to dine.

To offer customers the best dining experience, let Texas food handlers receive a Texas Food Handlers Card training to prevent foodborne illness outbreaks.

Food safety education for food handlers makes for qualified employees. Here’s how to get a Texas Food Handlers Card.

Enroll in an Online Texas Food Handler Training Course The two-hour course covers food safety concerns, regulations, and techniques to maintain a food-safe environment. At the end of the course, students will learn in detail food safety importance, its enforcers, foodborne illness and causes identification. Also on discussion are identifying biological, physical, and chemical contaminations, temperature controls, proper personal hygiene, receiving and storing procedures and cleaning and sanitation. Workers are required to complete the course within 30 days of employment.

Sign Up with Accredited Schools The Texas Department of State Health Services recognizes institutions with approved Food Handlers training courses. View the list of schools here.here

Get Certified After passing the quizzes and completing a 70% or more score on the final exam, download and print out the card. This will serve as recognition to regulatory authorities in the State of Texas of passing the food handler program.

It is a great advantage to have the training, as some employers make it a hiring requirement.

Help keep Texan customers happy and foodborne illness free, make it a summer to-do and get a Food Handlers Card.
