In 1997, The Barbara Lewis King Scholarship Foundation was founded by Thena Norman with the divine idea of providing an opportunity to invest in the future of our young men and women. Mrs. Norman’s vision was to furnish students with financial assistance as they pursued their goal of post-secondary education. In honor of her spiritual leader, she named the charitable body, The Barbara Lewis King Scholarship Foundation. Dr. Barbara Lewis King is the spiritual founder and leader of Hillside International Truth Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The scholarship recipients are selected based on the principles and values demonstrated by Dr. King. These characteristics include but are not limited to : walking in faith, excellence in education, service to church and community service, civic responsibility, creative expression and leadership skills. The foundation has proudly supported the hopes and dreams of 260 students by awarding over $300,000 in scholarships. As you have seen, the recipients of the foundation’s scholarships are pursuing multiple and diverse subjects and careers. This listing only represents 20 percent of scholarships awarded. We are continuing our efforts to reach out to our many scholars to stay abreast of their successful journeys.
