BIO 498/698 Cleaning Equipment

Outline Cleaning Equipment  Lens pens  “Rocket ship” air compressor Using cleaning equipment

Cleaning Equipment You MUST use one of these tools to clean any of the lenses!  Never use paper towels, tissues, Kimwipes, sleeves, etc.

Lens Pens Warning! Never touch any of the brush tips with your hands.  The oils from your hands will contaminate the brush, and subsequently the oil will get on the lenses.

Large Lens Pens Brush = brushing away dust and fibers off of the lens Use gentle, circular motions Do not touch the brush with your hands Micro fiber tip (w/ powdered carbon) = removes oils/fingerprints from the lens Small, circular motions If you touch this, it will not transfer oils to the lens (but you still shouldn’t touch it)

Using the Lens Pens Gentle, circular brushing motions with the brush at an angle against the lens Gentle, circular motions perpendicular to the lens with the microfiber tip

“Rocket Ship” Squeezing the “rocket ship” acts as a small, infinite can of computer duster. Use as needed, and be sure to never touch the tip to the lens.

Small Lens Pen Use like the large lens pens. Simple!
