WELCOME CURRICULUM NIGHT Mrs. Karen Amoscato September 10, 2015

DAILY SCHEDULE

LUNCH  Point of Service (POS) system in the cafeteria.  Student’s ID number is their PIN number.  Will receive an envelope when funds are low.  Snacks on a cart M,W, F  Ice cream available T-TH  PLEASE make sure your child knows what is available to order if they are buying that day.

SPECIAL CLASS SCHEDULE  Integrated Arts Monday from 1:15pm-2:15pm  Physical Education Tuesday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Library Wednesday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Art Thursday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Music Friday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Lunch is at 11:15am daily and recess follows from 11:45am-12:15pm.  Please watch the weather and dress accordingly to be outside

CLASS RULES/BEHAVIOR “SHOOT FOR THE STARS”  Please discuss our class rules with your child  The contract should be signed and returned  Our Paw Print program is a positive incentive for group behavior

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS  High Frequency Word Lists  Anthology Reading/Guided Reading groups  Robust vocabulary  Sticker Word Books- Only Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on September 15 th  Spelling Tests and Reading Comprehension tests are given on Fridays for each lesson  D’Nealian Handwriting – letters and numbers

PIZZA HUT BOOK-IT PROGRAM  Required for extra reading/writing/comprehension practice  Four books per month with one report Write in complete sentences Neatness counts Spend some time on this activity  Student will earn the monthly certificate if assignment is handed in on or before the last day of the month  Reward at the end of the year for participating every month

MATH  Chapter Tests and Unit Tests  Rocket Math Basic Facts begins the third nine weeks  Homework nightly  Practice side required/challenge side optional  Make sure that you review the page and the directions are clear in order for the page to completed correctly
