Grant & Postdoc Support (April 1, October 1) Category 1. Pilot Early Career ($35K) Eligibility: Instructors and Assistant Professors Intended to help investigator become an independent researcher. Facilitates further applications to external funding agencies. Category 2. New Ideas ($35K) Eligibility: Associate Professors and Professors Supports high-impact, high-risk, innovative projects. Facilitate novel directions in research fundable by external funding agencies.

Grant & Postdoc Support (cont’d) (April 1, October 1) Category 3. Bridge Funding ($35K) Eligibility: Instructors, Assistant, Associate and Professors Bridges (1) funding “gap” between two secured award periods, or (2) scored NIH proposal for resubmission (e.g. additional data). Category 4. Postdoctoral Support ($55K) Eligibility: Postdoctoral Fellows Provides salary-only support for postdocs for a specific child health related research project.

MD (Clinical) Trainee Support (February 1) Eligibility: MD (clinical) fellows * ( up to 100% salary for 2 years) Supports second and third years (PGY5 & PGY6) CHRI award amount depends on fellow’s other funding Must apply for external funding in first 15mths of training Mentor provides non-salary research support Strong mentoring plan required *Or residency as appropriate with the discipline

Clinician Educator Support (September 1) Eligibility: Clinician Educators* ($25K) Support CEs to pursue clinical research studies that promote their ability to achieve external funding. Applications may include involvement of other Allied Health Professionals. Seeks innovative, well-developed proposals that pursue clinical research relevant to their clinical practice related to the health of children and expectant mothers. * At the rank of clinical assistant professor or above

Scoring based on NIH 1-9 scale and criteria Panels meet 4-6 weeks after deadline All applicants receive written critique Applicants can meet with a reviewer prior to submission or re-submission All projects must be significantly related to maternal & child health Review and Selection Process
