RELEVANCE How to assure that the project idea responds to an existing need? vs Promote meetings, use existing contacts, do not underestimate networking.

RELEVANCE How to make sure that the proposal has consensus among all partners? Do not abuse of “division of tasks”, do not assume that your priority is shared, promote bottom-up discussions. WP 1WP 2 WP 3 WP 4 Partner 1Partner 2Partner 3Partner 4

RELEVANCE How to confirm that the project is innovative? Do research, why this great idea was not thought by someone else before?, exchange with experts on the subject.

SUSTAINABILITY Stratégies de gestion intégrée pour la mise en valeur du patrimoine des phares, sémaphores et balises de la Méditerranée (MED-PHARES) ECOlogical use of native PLANTs for environmental restoration and sustainable development in the MEDiterranean region (ECOPLANTMED) Towards Ecosystem conservation and Sustainable Artisanal Fisheries in the Mediterranean basin (ECOSAFIMED) A Location-aware System for Fruit Fly e-Monitoring and Pest Management Control (FruitFlyNet) Generating a Risk and Ecological Analysis Toolkit for the Mediterranean (GREAT Med) Risk Monitoring, Modelling and Mitigation of benthic Harmful Algal Blooms along Mediterranean coasts (M3- HABs) Modèles innovants de gouvernance des ressources des zones cotières-marines pour une défense stratégique des littoraux Méditerranéens (MEDSANDCOAST) Development of Landscape Character Assessment as a tool for effective conservation of natural heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean (MEDSCAPES)

SUSTAINABILITY USUDS worked very well.... Let’s do USUDS 2! 2

MANAGEMENT Money, travels, public good, people, recognition, development for our organisation, etc Administrative burden!

MANAGEMENT - Strong difficulties for local authorities to apply EU regulations. - Lack of information of what these projects imply, for partners in Southern countries but also for those in the EU. - The non-compliance with procedures is not the responsibility of one single partner.

5. Towards ENI-CBC-MED Direct: Submission of ONE project proposal under the leadership of AMB/General Secretariat of MedCities. Priorities are: A.3.1: Providing young people... B.4.2: Reduce municipal waste generation... B.4.3: Support cost-effective and innovative energy rehabilitation... Promotion of, at least, 2 multilateral projects among the members of the network, to be led by other cities. Participation of the General Secretariat in various consortia for the submission of proposals, with activities on Communication and Capitalisation of results. Indirect: Facilitation of the participation of its members as partners in the project proposals received by the Secretariat. Facilitation of the participation of its members as Associate Partners in the project proposals received by the Secretariat. This is specifically valid to those members that due to inexperience in EU projects or lack of resources could not participate as partners, but could profit from knowledge sharing events. Facilitation of partners with our strategic alliances Support in drafting and reviewing project proposals from our members and support to partnership seeking Coordination proposal and strategy for the upcoming ENI call for projects:

Thank you! Oriol Barba Technical Director of MedCities
