THIS IS ME, A CARTOON AMAZON ADVENTURER. IT IS A WEIRD LOOK FOR ME (I DON’T LIKE ADVENTURING) BUT I’M FINE. LETS GET ON WITH THE ADVENTURE. I’LL BE FLYING, WALKING AND SWIMMING. I WILL EXPLORE THE DIFFERENT LAYERS AND PARTS OF THE AMAZON. IT IS A SEARCH FOR THE END! I’M SAYING THIS LIKE YOU’RE THE TREE.

THE EMERGENT THE CANOPY THE UNDERSTOREY THE FOREST FLOOR

IN MY RUCSAC I HAVE A TORCH FOR EXPLORING DARK AREAS OF THE JUNGLE, A JETPACK FOR LOOKING AT THE DIFFERRENT LAYERS OF THE JUNGLE, A COMPASS TO FIND THE END AND A GUIDE TO LOOK AT THE DIFFRERENT SPIECES OF THE ANIMALS.

THE FOREST FLOOR IS ONE OF TE DARKEST PLACES IN THE RAINFOREST AND I HAVE TO GO THERE. THE REASON WHY IT IT IS THE DARKEST PLACE IS BECAUSE ALL OF THE UNDERSTOREY AND CANOPY TREES ARE BLOCKING OUT THE SUN. THE FOREST FLOOR IS HOME TO: BULLET ANTS, FIRE ANTS, MILLEPEDES AND TERMITES. IT’S A DUMP OF WOOD AND FALLEN TREES. I AM USING MY TORCH!

THE UNDESTOREY IS A BATTLE TO THE CANOPY. GETTING TO THE CANOPY IS THE REWARD, BUT IT IS NOT EASY. YOU’VE GOT THE TREES THAT STRANGLE OTHER TREES CALLED THE STANGLER FIG. THE STRANGLER FIG GROWS ON ANOTHER TREE AND STRANGLES IT AND IT BECOMES THE TREE THAT REACHES THE CANOPY. THERE IS A TREE THAT HAS SLIPPERY BARK SO THAT OTHER TREES CAN’T GROW ON IT. THE SOIL HAS NO NUTRIENTS IN IT AT ALL, SO THE TREES HAVE TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN. THE TREES ARE IN THE UNDERSTOREY. I DO NOT NEED A JETPACK!

THIS LAYER IS THE REWARD OF THE UNDERSTOREY BATTLE, YOU GET ALL THE SUN YOU NEED AND IT IS LUXURY! THE CANOPY IS HOME TO 80% OF ALL THE ANIMALS IN THE RAINFOREST. A FACT: WE KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SURFACE OF THE MOON THAN THE SPIECES OF THE RAINFOREST! THAT WAS MY FAVOURITE FACT OF ALL TIME. I HAVE TO USE A JETPACK!

THE EMERGENT IS A BONUS TO THE REWARD OF GETTING TO THE CANOPY. THE EMERGENT IS THE HIGHEST LAYER REACHING UP TO 30m. THE EMERGENT TREES HAVE THE GREENEST LEAVES. DOWN IN THE UNDERSTOREY IT IS CHOCOLATE BROWN, THIS ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH SUNLUGHT IT IS GETTING. (W IERD!) THE EMERGENT

THE HOWLER HAS THE LOUDEST SHRIEK EVER! (think of a monkey being quiet) HOWLER MONKEYS ARE BROWN OR BLACK WITH THE INSIDE OF THEIR MOUTHS BEING A CIRCLE.THE MONKEYS LIVE IN THE CANOPY BUT SPEND TIME ON THE GROUND. IN THE RAINFOREST, HOWLER MONKEYS EAT LEAVES, FRUIT, BUDS AND NUTS. HOWLER MONKEYS WEIGH: 7 – 10 kg AND ARE 56 – 92cm IN LENGTH. I MIGHT NEED A JETPACK DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY ARE.

OCELOTS ARE PART OF THE CAT FAMILY. THE OCELOTS LIVE ON THE FOREST FLOOR AND THE UNDERSTOREY. THEY WEIGH 15 kg AND THEIR SIZE IS… 40 – 50 cm TALL AND 121 – 162 cm IN LENGTH. THE LENGTH OF THEIR TAIL IS 26 – 45 CM. AN OCELOT EATS MICE, RABBIT, RATS, SNAKES, LIZARDS, FISH AND FROGS.
