The idea that the defenders of the Alamo flew the 1824 Flag is rooted solely in the belief that the defenders were fighting for the restoration of the Mexican Constitution of This flag was an expression of the “peace party” that desired a return to the Constitution of 1824 which supported a federalist government and certain rights to the states and their citizen.

Mexican Army Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, the leading villain of Texas history, was born in Mexico on February 21,1794. He was elevated to president of Mexico in a democratic election. He soon determined, however, that Mexico was not ready for democracy and pronounced himself dictator. He was captured by the Texans in the Battle of the Alamo. He was allowed to return to Mexico after his capture. The Mexican Army consisted of about 2,400 troops. Not including headquarters and followers. The uniforms were dark blue tailcoat with red trim, and light blue pants.

After the Alamo After the battle of the Alamo, the Mexican army went further into Texas. The Americans who had responded to the Texans plea for help were headed for the Alamo, when they heard of its defeat. They continued into Texas where they captured Santa Anna in a 20–minute battle. The fighting over Texas went on for several more years until Mexico and the United States officially declared war against each other.Texas became an independent republic. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna dissolved the social compact which existed between Texas and the other members of the Mexican confederacy.
