District 6890 Foundation Grants Workshop Brad Lunz, District Grants Subcommittee Chair PDG Ed Odom, Stewardship Subcommittee Chair Allocation of YOUR Funds (DDF)

is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. Its Mission 2

In order to sponsor a project, clubs must achieve one of two “circuit breakers” in the contribution year: 1.) Contribute a minimum of $2,500 to APF or 2.) Reach $100 per capita** giving to AF-SHARE (** membership start + end / 2) Clubs not qualifying to sponsor grant eligible projects may still assign their DDF to a partner club’s project. This applies to both DISTRICT and GLOBAL Grants, and assumes club has participated in annual Grants Workshop and submitted signed MOU. $15,000 minimum TRF World Fund match for GLOBAL Grant eligible projects, meaning total project funding from all sources (including partner clubs outside D- 6890) must be $30,000 or more. Contribution “Circuit Breakers” & Project Minimums 4

All DDF money is eligible for allocation to qualifying GLOBAL Grants (TRF policy) All DDF money is eligible for allocation to qualifying GLOBAL Grants (TRF policy) Up to 50% of DDF money may be allocated to qualifying DISTRICT Grants (TRF policy) Up to 50% of DDF money may be allocated to qualifying DISTRICT Grants (TRF policy) District 6890 CLUBS decide how to spend their money based on service initiatives District 6890 CLUBS decide how to spend their money based on service initiatives District 6890 DDF Allocation EXAMPLE Club RC contributes $12,000 to TRF Annual Fund SHARE in In , TRF returns $6,000 in DDF to be allocated to qualifying grants. All $6,000 reserved for Club RC until 8/31/2016. Club may apply up to $3,000 (50% of $6,000) to eligible DISTRICT Grant before 4/30/16. Any remaining amount of the original $6,000 may be applied to an eligible GLOBAL Grant (i.e., Total of DISTRICT and GLOBAL Grant allocation may not exceed original $6,000 DDF). 5

DISTRICT Grant New Funds $ 3,000 DDF Applied $ 3,000 TRF WF Match N/A TOTAL $ 6,000 GLOBAL Grant New Funds $ 9,000 DDF Applied $ 3,000 TRF WF Match $ 7,500 ** TOTAL $ 19,500 ** GLOBAL Grant New Funds $ 12,000 DDF Applied $ 6,000 TRF WF Match $ 12,000 ** TOTAL $ 30,000 ** ANDAND OROR GLOBAL Grants may also qualify for matching from TRF’s World Fund. World Fund matches DDF 1:1 and new money 1:2 ($1 = 50¢ WF). Assume Club RC has raised a total of $12,000 (new money) for DISTRICT and GLOBAL Grant projects. Allocation of funds results in different levels of available matching from TRF (World Fund). ** TRF minimum GLOBAL Grant project is $30,000. Minimum World Fund match is $15,000. So, both GLOBAL Grants shown above represent only partial funding to illustrate matching. Both would require collaboration with another club for additional DDF and/or new funds. Club DDF Allocation Example (continued) 6

DISTRICT Grants will be awarded around 7/1 each year (application deadline 4/30). The balance of DDF will be available for GLOBAL Grants to be awarded by 10/1 (application deadline 8/30). Ideally, ALL available DDF will be allocated by clubs. DDF that is not allocated (or assigned) through the reserve process will be available & awarded to eligible projects by the District 6890 TRF Leadership Committee. When necessary, grant request evaluation will be based on factors including project life (years of impact), number of clubs participating, sponsor club’s per capita giving and public relations elements. Unclaimed DDF 9

Club Per Capita Support of APF Top 25% = 7 pts 2nd 25% = 5 pts 3rd 25% = 3 pts Last 25% = 1 pt Per Capita APF of highest contributing club to project (generally project sponsor), based on quartile rank of District 6890 (Rotary year three years prior).
