Wind energy By:Gissell Hernandez 608

What is Wind Energy? ● Wind energy is energy that is caused by the uneven heating of earths surface,by the sun.One example of uneven heat is the wind cycle. ● Though because earths surface is made of different types of lands and water it absorbs the suns heat at different rates.

Where does Wind energy come from? ● Energy from wind comes from turbines that are in generators. ● Wind turbines are from these large poles that feature a three bladed turning mechanisms that is rotated by the wind which blows out air.

How is wind energy formed? ● While the gear box and the generator are working the blades move in the Rotor diameter. ● While the blades are moving it causes wind and that is wind energy. An example is this diagram.

Is Wind Energy Renewable or nonrenewable? ● Wind energy is renewable Because the a renewable source never runs out because they are easily regenerated Ex: Solar power, tidal power and Biomass there are probably more but I am not writing them all down.

How is Wind energy used to make electrical energy? ● As you can see the wind energy sends wind into the distribution transformer into the transmission tower and then it turns into electrical energy and the energy goes into the house and give electrical energy.

Disadvantages of Wind energy!!!! ● Wind energy is not dependable because you need wind and wind is not always here. ● Wind energy are unsightly(not pretty to look at, at all. ● Wind energy kills birds when the blades are moving. ● Wind energy is noisy when it is powered and when the blades are moving. ●

Advantages of Wind energy ● Wind energy is friendly to the surrounding environment so no fossil fuels are burnt to generate electricity from Wind energy. ● Wind turbines take up fewer space than an average power station. ● Wind turbines are a great resource to generate in remote directions Ex: mountain communities and remote country side. ● Newer technologies are making wind energy much more efficient
