Types of Media Coverage There are four types of media coverage: Informative e.g. News, teletext Educational e.g. Documentries, skills shows Instructive e.g. Masterclasses Entertainment e.g. Live coverage, highlights, t.v. Shows.

Positive Effects of Media 1.Keeps people informed of current trends and players. 2.The more information the more the event is appreciated. 3.May increase participation. 4.May attract more supporters. 5.More coverage=easier to attract sponsor=more money. 6.Promotes role models. 7.Coverage of minority sports can popularise them. 8.Money from broadcaster bids goes direct to the sport.

Negative Effects of Media 1.Major sports have most coverage. 2.Can lower attendances at games. 3.Gives sports stars little privacy. 4.Small incidents are often exaggerated. 5.Reporter/Tv Director can put their own slant on what has happened. 6.Changes in timing of events can impact on fans. 7.Rule changes may occur to increase TV coverage 8.Replaying incidents can undermine the officials. 9.Sports that are not broadcast become less popular.
