VOA Standard English ( VOA 常速英语) VOA Special English ( VOA 慢速英语,或 VOA 特别英语)

Special English

Three Elements Make Special English Unique 1. It has a limited vocabulary of 1500 words. Most are simple words that describe objects, actions or emotions. Some are more difficult. 2.Special English is written in short, simple sentences that contain only one idea. No idioms are used. 3.Special English is spoken at a slower pace, about two-thirds the speed of Standard English.

Time and Fruently

Standard English

 Standard English is American English for everyday use norms, and the United States in Mandarin (General American), use the "standard English" in order to distinguish it from the word "Special English." Standard English is broadcast rate of not less than 140 words per minute, vocabulary than in 4000, a longer sentence, complex structure, informative. Therefore, it is much more difficult than listening to Special English.

VOA Standard English Divided into news and features two categories  Standard English thematic programs are:  This Week  Communications World  Talk to America  Kaleidoscope

SUMMARY  Voice of America (VOA) is the official external broadcast institution of the United States federal government.
