4 Mission of CMO Human Relations Unit To foster harmonious human relations among all people in Fort Worth by: Promoting public awareness of local, state, and national civil rights laws as they pertain to housing, employment, and public accommodations; Investigating and resolving claims of civil rights violations; Advising the City Manager about civil rights issues; and Providing staff support to the Human Relations Commission.

14 History of Human Relations Commission 1967City Council creates Community Relations Commission. 1970City Council changes commission’s name to Human Relations Commission and allocates resources for staff. 1976EEOC designates HRC as Fair Employment Practices Agency. 1984City Council establishes two-year terms of office for HRC members, with maximum of three consecutive terms. 1994City Council reduces number of HRC members to eleven. 1994HUD designates HRC as Fair Housing Assistance Program.
