AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping The purpose of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is to provide insight for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping The purpose of Rapid Prototyping is to quickly provide a scale model of a physical part or assembly by using data from a three dimensional (3D) CAD design to fabricate the part. There are a variety of methods to fabricate the part, to include 3D printing.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping The process of BIM is closely tied to the advantages of CAD software use. BIM can be defined as: The process of managing building data through the creation of a Building Information Model that covers not just geometry and spatial relationships but also geographic information and properties of building components.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping The use of the BIM process helps to create models of the building’s actual parts, and include data pertaining to that part, such as the size and model number.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping The use of the BIM process helps to create models of the building’s actual parts, and include data pertaining to that part, such as the size of model number. When the building model is shared between the design team, construction company, and owner/operator, the data loss associated with the model is minimized. BIM allows data to be continually added to the model.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding BIM, and Rapid Prototyping Rapid Prototyping (RP) allows for the quick and efficient fabrication of physical models using three-dimensional CAD data. RP is used in an ever increasing number of industries. This allows those companies to turn innovative ideas into successful end products more rapidly and efficiently.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding Industrial Design Industrial Design (ID) is: the professional service of creating products and systems that optimize function, value and appearance for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding Industrial Design Industrial Design (ID) is: the professional service of creating products and systems that optimize function, value and appearance for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer. Good industrial design makes a thing look good, and great industrial design builds a relationship between an object and its owner.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding Sustainable Design Sustainable design seeks to reduce negative impacts on the environment, and the health and comfort of building occupants, thereby improving building performance.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding Sustainable Design Sustainable design seeks to reduce negative impacts on the environment, and the health and comfort of building occupants, thereby improving building performance. The basic objectives of sustainability are: to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste, and create healthy, productive environments.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding LEED LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is: a green building certification program that recognizes best-in- class building strategies and practices.

AutoCAD Unit Notes Understanding LEED LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is: a green building certification program that recognizes best-in- class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification.
