Luke 15:3-7 ‘Of Sheep and Shepherds’ Sermon

Sheep are easily influenced by others.

Sheep are easily influenced by others. Sheep are weak.

Sheep are weak. Sheep are dependent on others.

A Shepherd provides for the sheep. A Shepherd disciplines the sheep in love. A Shepherd protects the sheep.

Psalm 95:7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

A Shepherd provides for the sheep. A Shepherd disciplines the sheep in love. A Shepherd protects the sheep. John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:4 [God] wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Luke 15:3-7 Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
