Learning Styles Each learner is a unique individual who, due to their learning style, will perceive and solve challenges and problems in their own way.

What is a learning style? “Learning styles refers to a theoretical perspective that explains individual and group patterns of propensities and preferences for particular approaches and strategies for learning, information processing, and particular habits of mind related to ways of making sense of the world, approaching particular tasks, problem-solving, and communicating with others” Learning Styles. (2012). In Encyclopedia of Diversity in Education. Retrieved from entry/sagedived/learning_styles

What types of learning styles are there? There are three types of learning styles: Visual Auditory Kinesthetic

What’s Your Style? If you are interested in identifying you best learn, there are many assessments designed to help you find out. I used the link below to discover my own learning style. aspects/pages/VAK quest.htmhttp://brainboxx.co.uk/a3 aspects/pages/VAK quest.htm

My style Judging by the assessment I took, I am almost equally a visual AND kinesthetic learner.

A spects of Visual Learners Need to see information to best learn it. Prefer to read or look at diagrams, maps, or charts in order to learn. Visual learners can help group interpret and translate information derived from diagram, reading or other visual media. They can also contribute to a group by being able to discover and add appropriate imagery/texts to projects.

Aspects of Kinesthetic Learners Learn best when they are able to move their bodies. They prefer to learn from projects, games, activities, field trips and other physical learning situations. They can contribute to a team by incorporating physical activities to enhance presentations, projects or information. They can also help interpret information derived

My Learning Style(s) After doing a number of learning style assessments I have discovered that I am a combination of two learning styles. I am both a Kinesthetic and a visual learner. This discover makes sense as I am a sports coach and an art teacher.

Conclusion Learning styles are the way each one of us absorbs the information in our world. By understanding how we learn we are able to apply appropriate learning tools to enhance our learning experiences.
