What is child labor? Child labor is work that harms children or keeps them from attending school. Around the world and in the U. S., growing gaps between rich and poor in recent decades have forced millions of young children out of school and into work.

Where Did Child Labor Start? The Rise of child labor began in the United States in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s at the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Why do people use child labor? An average child laborer will cost less to work than an adult. Due to this millions of company’s use child laborers to save and make more money.

Where do most child laborers work? The worlds largest amount of child laborers come from India. There are many laws stating child labor is ok in India and there are very few child rights in India.

When do children usually start working? Most child laborers start working at age 11 and are pulled out of school to make money for their poor family. 1 in every 3 children on the planet are child laborers and most are found in India.

Who is trying to stop and help those in child labor? First nation country’s such as Canada and the United States are sending out money and needed supplies to countries who need it. Every year thousands of children are put back into school, given a safe home and forever protected from child labor

How much is the average child laborer paid? Extracting such high human cost, child labor is nevertheless cheap. A shirt that sells in the United States for $60 can cost less than 10 cents in labor. Some children work at 6 in the morning until 7 in the evening and get paid 20 cents a day.
