Career Plan:  Commencement Level Career Plan (beginning in 9 th grade)  Student driven: Active engagement in career exploration  Documents student identified career related:  Interests  Strengths and needs  Goals  CTE coursework  Work-based learning experiences  Considered in development of IEP  Maintained in permanent record

Using the Career Plan Upon Graduation…  Each student should be aware of his/her career options based upon:  Interests  Abilities  Personality traits, and  Career exploration activities.

Let’s look at a Career Plan Document  Note the 5 types of information you should provide to fill in a career plan.

8 Personal Data: Who are you? Review of Student Career Plan: Document when you meet with your Career Lanning Team to discuss your Career Plan. Knowledge: Self-Knowledge- Who am I? Career Exploration – Where am I going? Future Goals and Decision Making – How do I get there?

Skills/Application: What do I need to know? What skills are important to me? What am I learning? Why am I learning it? How can I use it?

Culminating Activity: What activity/final project have you completed that shows that you have reached the commencement level CDOS standards and how will that knowledge influence your future?

Post-Test  What is a career plan?  It is the paperwork needed to receive a CDOS Credential  Name 5 sections of information on my career plan?  Personal Data,  Review of Student Career Plan,  Knowledge,  Skills/Application  Culminating Activity  What is the benefit of having a career plan?  You have a running record of working toward you career goals and a resume all in one, that you can share with anyone (including potential employers)

Let’s fill in a mock Career Plan  Using the following slide about John, insert his information into the blank Career Plan document currently being handed to you.
