 Y3 received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and began their preparation for the Sacrament of Holy Communion  Y6 began their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation  New National Curriculum for Y6 & Y2/Assessment for whole school  Cooking in the curriculum  Celebrated Christmas with the KS2 Carol Concert and the KS1 Nativity  Successful Christmas Fair  Introduced the Year of Mercy in school What did we get up to last term? Bringing out the best in everyone, for the benefit of all, in the Spirit of Christ.

Pope Francis’ Prayer for the Holy Year of Mercy Pope Francis has announced an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in the Universal Church. This Holy Year of Mercy will begin on 8 December to commemorate both the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the 50 th anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council, which called the Church to proclaim the Gospel to the world in new ways, bringing God’s mercy to everyone. The Year will conclude on 20 November What are we doing to celebrate?

Bringing out the best in everyone, for the benefit of all, in the Spirit of Christ. NSPCC PANTS Campaign We held three workshops for parents and Governors to support this campaign. We worked with the children to understand how to keep themselves safe. We display posters around the school.

WHAT ARE WE DOING THIS TERM/YEAR? Lent – stations of the Cross and the Passion Play, Holy Week reflections Easter Bonnets/eggs Sacrament of Holy Communion and Sacrament of Confirmation New poly tunnel from HSA KS1 & KS2 SATs Year 1 Phonic Check Summer Fair Bringing out the best in everyone, for the benefit of all, in the Spirit of Christ.

ASSESSMENT WITHOUT LEVELS New Tracking System for YR-Y6 Age expectations against new National Curriculum Government new language- working towards, working at and working at greater depth within the Expected Standards Still using Teacher Assessment to report to parents at Parents Evening Will be using a variety of tests and assessment materials to support judgements Still three main forms of assessment- in school formative (TA) in-school summative (half termly pupil progress) National standardised summative assessment (End of KS1 & KS2 SATs 2016 (Y2 & Y6) slightly different Government tests to match NC New Base line Assessment in YR Bringing out the best in everyone, for the benefit of all, in the Spirit of Christ.
