Spring 2012 – English Communication Tom Stearns, Hansung University VIDEO PROJECT Spring 2012 – English Communication

Making a movie! Think about all the important elements of a movie: Script Acting Appearance Sound

Script Write the script in Korean first, then translate it into English. I will fix your translation. There will be many things that need to change. This is not because I don’t like your script. It’s because English and Korean do not translate directly, and you need a native speaker of English. Your script has to be 300 spoken words (글자 300개 아닌 단어 300개, 연극 연출하는 것 빼고;;;;) or more. Each member has to speak at least 50 words. No quitters!

Acting Everyone must have a speaking part in the movie. If you are bad at acting, that’s okay. You can have a smaller role. If you are good at acting, you should take the crazy role or funny role. If you are shy about your face, you can use a cartoon, a doll, etc.

Appearance You cannot shoot your video outside at night. It is impossible to see. Absolutely do not do this. If you are inside, turn on every light in the room. There are many places available on campus. If you need help finding a place, talk to me. Shoot a test video sometime this week and play the video on your computer. If it looks bad, choose a different location.

Sound Everyone, you have to speak loudly! If you speak too quietly in the movie, you look like a fool. Usually smartphones are great at picking up sound inside a small room. Smartphones are BAD at picking up sound in Hansung University classrooms. If you’re recording the movie outside, you need to stay very close to the person who is speaking. Shoot a test video sometime this week and play the video on your computer. If you can’t hear people speaking, choose a different location.

Group Evaluation (25%)

INSPIRATION! All art is imitation. 모든 예술은 모방이다. Take inspiration in another work that is similar to yours. For example, if you are going to make a thriller movie, take inspiration from a thriller movie that you like.
