To construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts. To identify whether or not a lamp will light in a simple series circuit. To recognise some common conductors and insulators, and associate metals with being good conductors. To construct and interpret a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey. Understanding the ‘Romanisation’ Britain: including the impact of technology, cultures and beliefs. To know what the Romans had for entertainment. Literacy To use dictionaries to check the meanings of words which they have read. To identify themes and conventions in a wide range of books. To participate in discussion about both books read to them and those they can read for themselves, taking turns to listen to what others say. To discuss words and phrases which capture the readers interest and imagination. Identifying main ideas drawn from more than one paragraph and summarising these. To use and understand the grammatical terminology accurately and appropriately when discussing writing and reading- determiner, pronoun, possessive pronoun, adverbial. To count backwards through zero to include negative numbers. To interpret and present discrete and continuous data using appropriate graphical methods, including bar charts and time graphs. To solve comparison, sum and difference problems using information presented in bar charts, pictograms, tables and other graphs.
