1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Instrument Status On/Off Cycle: 27 –No change since last meeting Hours On: ~73,300 hours –Continuous operations since 9/11/2007 –Longest continuous operations was from 1/15/2005 (probe relay) to 9/11/2007 (S/C safing) HDAC Filament Modulation: –Filament 1: hours –Filament 2: hours –Last: 2006/255

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Significant Issues S41: None S42: UVIS_075SA_AURORA001_PRIME –Significant data loss (DSN problem ) S43: None S44: UVIS_086IC_ALPVIR001_PRIME –Data loss (DSN problem) S45: UVIS_091IC_ALPVIR001_PRIME –Data loss (DSN problem) S46: UVIS_097RH_ICYLON001_ISS, UVIS_097SA_SPOLEDYN001_RIDER –Significant data loss (weather & DSN problem)

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE S45 (T46) UVIS_093ST_ETAUMATI001_PRIME & UVIS_093ST_BETCMATI001_PRIME –0.5 mrd deadband –During transition to or from RCS S46 (T48) UVIS_097ST_BETCMATI001_PRIME –0.5 mrd deadband –Tightening of the walking deadband 3 steps of.12 mrad Max deviation is.86 mrd per axis. –During transition from RCS Titan Star Occultation under RCS

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Titan Star Occultation under RCS Shall we consider using the FUV occultation slit? –Need to offset by as much as 25 mrd to avoid the lens and the lens holder. –Cannot do that if an ORS instrument is riding.

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE RBOT Process Since S46: No more than 5 wheel biases per orbit. Since S49: SP is suggesting “rbot- friendly” secondary axis. UVIS Statistics: –S46: 2 out of 16 –S47: 2 out of 15 –S48: 2 out of 7 –S49: 0 out of 7 –S50: 5 out of 18 Preliminary (from SOP port 1) All 5 requests used “ rbot-friendly ” secondary axis …

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Planning/Scheduling Notes Not too much to complaint about this time. –Don’t call a request xxxx_PRIME if it is not a prime request. The list of ring occultations that contain an atmospheric occulation is on the team web site at

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Upcoming Change Addition of a UVIS solar port entry in the BVT (ECR ): Currently we use ISS_NAC to Sun with (-20.0, 0.0, deg) offset An equivalent boresight will be used in CIMS, PDT and loaded to the S/C BVT table: UVIS_SOL_OFF The reason for the addition is to simplify the RBOT solution for Solar observations.

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE XXM Upcoming Changes New opmodes –3 UVIS standard modes: OFF, SLEEP, ON ON is currently 14.6 Watts, will be 9.4 Watts New ON does not allow HDAC filament modulation –1 non-standard mode: HDAC_Mod (14.6 Watts) New SSR library allocation (ECR ) –Allocation changed from 128 ALFs to 640 ALFS –Will allow us to keep a complete IEB library on board the S/C and lower our uplink needs at the start of every sequence.

1/6/09UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Ops team status for 09 In addition of controlling 4 S/C the LASP ops team will be launching one new S/C (Kepler 3/5/09) and two instruments (EVE on SDO 10/8/09) and TIM (on Glory 06/15/09). Crystal is on the Kepler flight team. During Kepler commissioning a small team including Alain & Darren will be taking care of QUIKScat and ICESat, two aging birds. In addition Alain supports Kepler S/W and has to do S/W development (OASIS-CC)
