The workshop will be offered four times in the fall of 2016: September 15, October 20, November 17 and December 7. Up to 30 people can attend each time. 2016: May-July Results and News

TRAINING – New Workshop – Time Management: As a result of the feedback the workshop will: - Extend another 30 minutes to 2.5 hours, to allow sufficient time for Q&A and group interaction - Include more information on current technology tools (apps, etc.) for time management - Include more small group exercises - Facilitate best practice and idea sharing among participants 2016: May-July Results and News

HSLC 2015 MEMBER SATISFACTION SURVEY: Many thanks to everyone who participated in the small groups at the May 2016 members’ meeting to provide feedback on key needs identified in the member satisfaction survey. Your feedback is being incorporated into the HSLC Strategic Plan process. Loretta has spoken with Doug Sauer of NYCON about the cost and timing of economic impact analysis and is investigating options. We will report back to you at the September meeting. 2016: May-July Results and News

HSLC STRATEGIC PLAN : Work continues on the HSLC Strategic Plan and will go through August. The goal is to report out in detail on the key elements of the plan, along with recommendations to you at the September HSLC members’ meeting. 2016: May-July Results and News

Executive Director Activities: Loretta attended the DSRIP “lunch and learn” on May 12, the Time Management Training on May 17 and the “graduation” (3 rd ) session of Excellent Supervisor on May 13, to support these activities and have first-hand knowledge in order to ensure continuous improvement of services to members. Loretta attended on June 23 in Rochester a mid-year report from Brown and Brown on the Nonprofit Benefits Exchange (healthcare consortium). All founding members of the consortium attended, including our two from HSLC: Rescue Mission and ACR Health. The results to-date are positive. 2016: May-July Results and News

Executive Director Activities: As a follow-up to the Nonprofit Benefits Exchange (NBE) meeting on June 23, Loretta is working with Brown and Brown to offer, in Syracuse, an informational meeting in late July or early August for nonprofits interested in joining the NBE in (healthcare consortium). Details will be ed later this month. Note that the Affordable Care Act requires the nonprofit have a minimum of 100 FTE’s (full time equivalent employees) who are eligible for health benefits in the nonprofit. 2016: May-July Results and News

Executive Director Activities: On June 29, Loretta participated in a webinar from NYCON regarding the creation of a NYGivesDay. The NYGivesDay will be on November 29, 2016 coinciding with “Giving Tuesday”. NYCON, in collaboration with United Way and Give Gab will provide training and toolkits aimed to assist primarily smaller nonprofits to enhance their giving through social media. HSLC will partner with United Way of CNY to support this initiative and will provide information to our members via newsletters and e- mails. We encourage you to check out this website: : May-July Results and News

Executive Director Activities: Initially recommended by Peggy Ogden as part of the HSLC strategic planning process, Loretta has met periodically with SageMyLife, an organization that has developed proprietary, easy-to-use software to map social support networks (for health and other purposes). Nancy Bloeser, General Manager of SageMyLife will speak to the HSLC members on July 8 to demonstrate the network mapping and talk about potential applications within our member nonprofits such as for child care, family support and elder support systems as well as case management. 2016: May-July Results and News

Executive Director Activities: Loretta worked with CNY Care Collaborative to explore the possibility of the HSLC being the lead applicant on a NYS Department of Health RFA to support strategic planning activities for Community Based Organization (CBO’s) to facilitate their engagement in DRSIP activities. After attending an informational webinar on June 8, it was determined that the HSLC would not meet the requirements. However, a coalition of community centers plans to pursue the RFA. Sarah Walton of Northeast Community Center will speak at the July 8 HSLC meeting and provide details to members interested in collaborating in the RFA. 2016: May-July Results and News
