1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

John 18:6 When Jesus said, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. John 19:11 Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Matthew 8:27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. John 3:14 &15 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Acts 3:21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

1:4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Christ has demonstrated who is by his life here on earth The final revelation of God He is the light of God He is the power of God He sustains everything He has provided salvation He is now on the throne in heaven

He is more than superiority in action! 1:5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"? Superior in Relationship to GOD and US 1:6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." Superior in relationship to ANGELS

The Basis of Superiority 1:7 Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire." 1:8 But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of your kingdom. Relationship with the Father

The Basis of Superiority 1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions." Service for GOD

The Basis of Superiority 1:10 And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; 1:11 they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, 1:12 like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end." Relationship with Creation

The Basis of Superiority 1:13 And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"? 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? Relationship with angels

Our Responsibility 2:1 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 2:2 For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, 2:4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
