Refusal Skills Communication strategies that can help you say no when you are urged to take part in behaviors that are unsafe or unhealthful, or that go against your values or beliefs. Conflict-Resolution Skills The process of ending a conflict through cooperation and problem solving. ◦ Stepping away from an argument. ◦ Allowing the conflict to diminish. ◦ Respect yourself and other party. ◦ Compromise

What does it mean to be a Health-Literate Consumer?

Answer!! Knowing how to read labels and identify products that are truly going to help you. Also knowing when a product is a scam and a waste of your money.

Activity Your skin is breaking out really bad with acne. To solve your problem you decide to go to the store to buy an acne medication to solve the problem. You get to the store and realize that there are 30 different types to choose from. You read the labels and you have no idea what they mean. You feel overwhelmed and just want to solve your problem. What do you do?

Health consumer Someone who purchases or uses health products or services to make informed buying decisions.
