HISTORICAL COURSE INFORMATION

Instructions for how to read this! “How Courses Close Online Report Instructions”  On Registrar’s webpage > Course Registration and Withdrawals > Registration Information

BASICS OF PRE-REGISTRATION  You will rank courses based on how much you want them  The system will attempt to register you for courses in your ranked order  Students will be enrolled by class division (third-years then second-years then first-years)  It is highly recommended you pick an alternate for each rank

We recommend that your Alternate 1 be the same as Primary 2; Alternate 2 be the same as Primary 3, and so on Why? This gives you a second chance to get in to a highly interested course, if your first selection is closed when the system processes your requests PRIORITIZING STRATEGY 1

PRIMARY ANY SECTION ALTERNATE ANY SECTION 1 Negotiations Corporations 2 Administrative Law 3 Evidence 4 International Law I 5 Copyright Law 6 Advertising Law 7 International Trade EXAMPLE: STRATEGY 1

PRIORITIZING STRATEGY 2 If you prefer a course, but do not mind which section or professor: Your 1 st Primary selection should be one section, your 1 st Alternate selection should be a different section of the same course, and select the “Any Section” flag. Why? This will allow you to be eligible for enrollment in any section of the desired course

PRIMARY ANY SECTION ALTERNATE ANY SECTION 1 Corporations (LAWJ ) with Professor Thompson Corporations (LAWJ ) with Professor Langevoort X 2 Negotiations Administrative Law 3 Evidence 4 International Law I 5 Copyright Law 6 Advertising Law 7 International Trade Check “Any Section” if you want any section despite professor… do NOT check if you only want specific professor(s) EXAMPLE: STRATEGY 2

PRIORITIZING STRATEGY 3 You would use this strategy if you want Course A or Course B, which meet at the same time or are mutually exclusive Important Note: You may request courses with time conflicts or that are mutually exclusive. However, once you are enrolled in a course, you will not be enrolled in any lower prioritized course(s) with a time conflict or a mutually exclusive course within the same semester.

PRIMARY ANY SECTION ALTERNATE ANY SECTION 1 Law of War (LAWJ ) War Crimes & Prosecution (LAWJ ) 2 Negotiations Administrative Law 3 Evidence 4 International Law I 5 Copyright Law 6 Advertising Law 7 International Trade EXAMPLE: STRATEGY 3

WHAT SHOULD BE RANKED LOWER: 1) Remaining First-year Required Courses 2) Year-long courses 3) Professor Permission Courses 4) Clinics and Externships
