 The automotive industry designs, develops, manufactures, markets, and sells the world's motor vehicles.  The automotive industry is one of the most important economic sectors by revenue.  The term automotive industry usually does not include industries dedicated to automobiles after delivery to the customer, such as repair shops and motor fuel filling stations. 3

Indian customers are highly discerning, educated and well informed. They are price sensitive and put a lot of emphasis on value for money.  They also maintain a local market understanding and knowledge throughout the different markets Tata conducts business in. Some economic issues that Tata Motors face must also be looked at from a more localized perspective.  E.g. For instance, the market in India for cars is much different than the market for cars in Italy. For one, India has over one billion more people than Italy does, thus the market is much larger or not as limited. 14

 Tata motors is changing, adapting and evolving to stay competitive in the automotive game with their rapid growth and extensive R&D. Tata Motors unveiled the electric versions of passenger car Tata Indica and commercial vehicle Tata Ace. Both run on lithium batteries.  It provides specialised engineering and design services, product lifecycle management and product-centric information technology services. 15

 Tata Motors relies heavily on its sales in India.  Tata Motors now faces stiff competition from fellow compatriots like Mahindra, Maruti as well as multinational brands like Toyota and Chevrolet.  It has faced controversy over developing the ‘Nano’.  Ashok Leyland, Tata's biggest competitor in the Indian heavy commercial vehicle market 20 Any person or entity which is a rival against another.A company in the same or similar industry which offers a similar product or service

23  It is an overall strong company that has found strength and expansion through its parent company, acquisitions and mergers.  It is overreaching by adding luxury brands to pair with the Nano, the worlds cheapest car.  They have grown internationally in selected markets
