Introduction What can you use to find books in a library?

Atlas An atlas is a book of different types of maps. Population maps Population maps Climate maps Climate maps Vegetation maps Vegetation maps

Atlas A world atlas contains maps of countries around the world. A road atlas contains maps showing roads to help you travel in a particular region.

Atlas A compass rose gives the points of the compass on the map. Most maps include a key or legend that explains the meanings of symbols used on the map.

Atlas The map scale shows how to measure distances on a map.

Almanac An almanac is a book published once a year that contains facts and information on many different subjects. It is a good source of up-to-date information.

Almanac An almanac may contain information on many types of subjects. To find information about a certain topic, look in the general index in the front or in the quick reference index in the back.

Textbooks A textbook is a book used by a student for studying a certain subject. To find information in a textbook, check the table of contents or the index.
