Defined TMCC High School is a tuition-free, middle college high school for degree-seeking 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th graders and certificate-seeking 11 th and 12 th graders. Our office is on the Dandini campus of Truckee Meadows Community College. The degree pathway is at Dandini and the technical pathway is at the Applied Technology Center on Edison Way. The school is a partnership between Washoe County School District and TMCC.

Mission Statement TMCC High School provides a rich educational experience through rigorous high school and dual-credit college courses, so our students graduate college and career-ready.

TMCC High Students are immersed in a community college while taking college and high school classes. Students meet requirements of high school diploma by taking high school classes and college classes that count toward high school graduation. Students learn what it takes to be successful in college and life through a supportive environment with high expectations.

Degree Pathway Students pursue an associate of science or associate of arts degree. Students develop skills needed to be successful in college and beyond through a supportive environment with high expectations.

Technical Pathway Students attend classes at the TMCC Applied Technology Center on Edison Way. Two new classrooms dedicated to TMCC High School were made possible through a gift from the Pennington Foundation. The Applied Technology campus has been renovated and updated through the Pennington Foundation gift to the benefit of both TMCC and Technical Pathway students. Areas of study include but are not limited to… Advanced Manufacturing Architecture Automotive Construction Management Diesel Technology HVAC Logistics Technician Computer Numerical Control Machine Technician Energy Technology Production Technology Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Welding See TMCC website for more information on available programs.

Technical Pathway Students pursue a skills certificate or certificate of achievement from TMCC. Students develop skills needed to be successful in career and beyond through a supportive environment with high expectations.

TMCC High Benefits: Free college Mature environment Rigorous academics preparing them for 4 yr college degree and/or career Students who are : independent learners personally motivated ready for academic rigor will benefit the most.

Requirements 2.5 minimum GPA Earn 6 credits in Freshman yr to include: Freshman English Algebra or Geometry Biology (preferred) or another natural science Computer lit (strongly recommended) Health (strongly recommended) Two semesters of PE ( strongly recommended) Students may be conditionally accepted and will need to complete required classes over the summer.

TMCC HS Student Selection TMCC HS may not be the best option for every student, even one with a 4.0 GPA. The focus is selecting students based on the “right fit”. It is not definite that a student with a higher GPA will be selected over a student with a lower GPA.

The right fit is determined by: A Complete Application which includes: GPA, attendance, recommendations, essay, credit completion Accuplacer scores: P lacement into a minimum of Math 95 and English 98 NO exceptions Student Interview “Look-fors”: Personal accountability in learning, independence in learning, social-emotional maturity, career & college graduation goals Parent Interview

TMCC HS selection process Staff and administration will select 50 students based on the criteria just described. If there are additional qualified applicants who are not selected, they will be placed on a waiting list according to Accuplacer score, and the date by which they took the Accuplacer.

What to expect Conditionally accepted students will have a 15 minute interview with faculty 10 minutes with student; 5 minutes with parent also Admitted students will pay for college books or apply for a book scholarship. The book scholarship pays up to half the cost of college texts.

Expectations of Parents Student/parent interview with faculty Attend mandatory orientation in Spring Attend mandatory open house in September Grade relevant breakout sessions Pay school fee of $80 per year Encouraged to make use of Parent University

Steps to Apply 1) Fill out and print application from our website 2) Submit by mail 7000 Dandini Blvd, Reno NV or hand deliver to our office in RDMT 314 3) Due date February 29 th 4) Conditional acceptance or denial via & mail 3 rd week of March. 5) Take Accuplacer & bring results to office by April 15 th

Steps to Apply 6) Interviews week of April 18 th – April 22 nd. 7) Final acceptance notification via & mail between April 27 th and 29 th. 8) Orientation May 23 rd. 9) Applications turned in LATE may qualify for a wait list.

TMCC High School Calendar August 8 th School Starts October NO Fall Break December 17 th through Jan 16 th Winter Break Spring Break is one week with the college (it could overlap with one week of the WCSD spring break) May 31 st last day of school!!!! YAY
