Our History Where have we been for the last 25 years? What have we been doing?

In 1995 we wanted to... Develop A Community Re-integration Program Initiate Sub-Acute Rehab Programs Expand Training pre & post-doctoral & inter- departmental collaborative experiences with the Graduate Schools Pursue a research training grant for post- doctoral position

And We Did It!

In 1997 we wanted to... Set up research areas in outcomes, movement science and geriatric rehab Create Pre- and Post-Doctoral training programs Conduct a national clinical trial Create programs in Tai Chi for the Elderly and Exercise Induced Immunology and TBI Model Systems

And We Did It!

In 2001 we wanted to... Create a Strategic Planning Committee to address improved: Space Communication Staff Satisfaction Finances Marketing Identity

Strategic Planning Committee This group works to insure the advancement of Emory Rehabilitation through such events as the 25 th Anniversary Celebration held this last December As part of the on-going initiatives they designated a Vision/Mission Committee

Vision/Mission Committee Appointed by the Strategic Planning Committee Members: Doris Armour, Devra Brown, Sheryl Hope, Zoher Kapasi, Barbara Mapstone, Pat Nichols Goal: To develop Vision and Mission Statements based on the information gathered by the Strategic Planning Committee

What is a Vision Statement? A Vision Statement is a stated goal which: provides direction aligns key concepts energizes people to achieve a common purpose states organizational ideal stretches the imagination motivates people to re-think what is possible

Our Vision Statement Rehabilitation at Emory will be provided by a group of dedicated professionals, in state-of-the-art facilities, who share a collective vision of innovative patient-centered care, which is integrated with cutting-edge research and preeminent educational programs. As leaders modeling excellence in academic medicine, we will be foremost in the United States for promoting health, and for rehabilitating individuals with neural damage, musculoskeletal problems, pain, amputations and chronic disease across the life span using evidence-based medicine, novel assistive technology and community integration to improve the patient’s quality of life.
