To consider : Are there any other current or emerging issues for the sector that you think will need to be taken into account within the updated SIP?

Discussion Point 1: Recruitment What recruitment issues / challenges is the sector currently facing? What is the approach to recruitment? Are they always able to get the people you need? Which types of vacancies are hardest to fill? What are the reasons for this – e.g. lack of applicants / lack of applicants with the right skills and experience / nature of the job / location? What share of recruits are young people (under the age of 25) and apprentices? What do you think could / should be done to address these challenges? Who should take the lead on this?

Discussion Point 2: Workforce development What skills challenges are employers in the sector facing in relation to their existing workforce? Are any of the staff lacking the skills needed to do the job? What are the main types of skills that are lacking? What is driving this (e.g. technology / changes in consumer demand / ageing workforce)? What impact is this having on the business? – e.g. productivity / quality of product? What do you think could / should be done to address these challenges? Who should take the lead on this?
