WAHS 1:1 Initiative Parent Information

 To provide students with another resource and tool to further enhance their skills and knowledge needed to successfully enter college or the workforce.  To expand each student’s learning to be inclusive of our interconnected global society.. Goals for the 1:1 Initiative Power Point

 Each student will receive a laptop  Distribution  Eligible to receive laptop if:  Digital Power Point has been viewed  Parent and students have signed and returned  Acceptable Use Policy  Student-Guardian Laptop Agreement

 Improve overall computer skills/21 st Century skills  Tool to increased access and opportunity to learning:  Classwork/Homework  Creation  Communication  Collaboration  Problem Solving Benefits of 1:1

 Digital Citizenship  Instructional Use  Gdrive, Gmail, Blackboard(Bb), other software  CARE/-trouble shooting (Wi-Fi connect, re-start, forgotten password)  Digital Footprint  Responsibilities and choices  Benefits and risks of sharing information *To be completed school wide the first Thursday and Friday mornings of School. What if my child wants to bring his/her own laptop to school? -ACPS has a bring your own device open policy; however, we do not recommend this for several reasons: ■ Students will only have to access ACPS wireless, which is a lot slower. ■ Students might not have specific programs installed for classes that they will need. ■ Students personal devices will not be serviced by staff members if they are not working. What if my child’s computer is not working? o We have a troubleshooting procedure. The students will be trained to take specific steps when issues arise. o We have a student-led tech team who will resolve some issues.
