Lebanon High School 1:1 Learning Initiative

Why? O LHS Vision: O Through a nurturing climate and the building of relationships, Lebanon High School professionals promote academic excellence and graduate students who have character and skills to be productive and successful citizens. Using technology in a legal, moral, and ethical manner is vital for all students as it opens worldwide learning opportunities.

Item Inventory O Each student at LHS will receive a 13” MacBook Air, a power charger, a charger extension cord, and a computer bag. O Items will be distributed at Computer Distribution Day and will be collected at the end of the school year at Computer Collection Day. All equipment is property of LCSC

Expectations O Students are expected to use the computers for educational purposes and in a responsible manner. O All policies in the Student Handbook are to be followed O Computers are monitored throughout the day O LCSC laptops will always filter back through the LCSC network. O Students are responsible for backing up their files.

Transition Plan O Freshmen and new students entering LHS will receive a MacBook Air, charger, extension cord, and a computer bag. O Students will use the same equipment until graduation, transferring away from LHS, or new equipment is purchased. (Take care of the equipment!)

Digital Ethics & Responsibility O Students are to use the computer for educational purposes. O Read and follow all rules in the Student Handbook (policy is also on school website) O Respect Yourself, Protect Yourself, Respect Others, Protect Others, Respect Intellectual Property, Protect Intellectual Property O Each user has a “digital footprint” O Any type of bullying or harrassing is not accepted by LCSC

Finances O The cost of the technology equipment is $160 for the school year ($80/semester). This fee replaces the traditional textbook fee. O Note that additional fees may apply, such as PE Uniforms, AP, Dual-Credit, Lab supplies, etc. depending on the classes scheduled for the student.

Security, Damage, & Repair O Have a problem? O Visit the LHS AppleCare Center ASAP O 18 Student Technicians are available to help O If necessary, the problem will be elevated to the LCSC Technology Department O Loaner computers are available if possession of the original computer remains with the Technology Department. (Always communicate this with your insurance company)

Security, Damage, & Repair O Damage not deemed normal wear & tear by the LCSC Technology Department and Apple is the responsibility of the student/parent. An invoice for financial payment will be mailed to the home address.

Security, Damage, & Repair O LCSC has created a policy that helps protect computers. For example, students are not to carry the laptop without putting it in the computer bag. O Additionally, to keep the risk of liquid spillage to a minimum, students will not be allowed to use the MacBook in the cafeteria.

Insurance O LCSC strongly recommends the purchase of insurance to help protect the financial risk of damaged, lost, or stolen computers & equipment. O Contact your insurance agent for assistance O Insurance can also be purchased at O The total cost of all equipment is $920

Take Care of the Laptop O Charge the computer each night O Do not spray any type of cleaner on the screen O Stop by the AppleCare Center with any issues O Keep out of the heat or cold O Be careful around people and animals O Never leave computer unattended O Do not eat or drink around the computer O Never close the lid with something on the keyboard

Printing O Students are able to print at school O The main printer is in the Media Center O Students are not able to install on the MacBook thus not allowing printing outside of LHS O If printing is necessary outside LHS, students are encouraged to themselves, save to Dropbox, flashdrive, etc. and open on a different computer.

Distribution Days O Saturday, August 2 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM O Tuesday, August 5 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM O Wednesday, August 6 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM O At Lebanon High School O Student & Parent/Guardian Must be Present

My Big Campus O It is an expectation that every class at LHS uses My Big Campus O My Big Campus is… O A safe online extension of the classroom where teachers and student can meet to: O Communicate – Announcements and O Use Calendar for organization O Discuss class topics O Access Classroom resources O Complete assignments and assessments O View pre-screened educational content

Tips for Parents O Have your child use the computer in a common area O Limit time on the computer/internet O Check student history O Stay away from Social Media unless used for educational purposes only O Set and Enforce rules at home
