The Two Sides of China Learning Objective To visualise what China looks like and understand that it has both very rich and very poor areas Both these pictures show houses in Beijing!

Wealth Wealth It shows how rich China is compared to the rest of the world Questions: 1) How has China’s wealth changed between 1990 and 2015? 2) What might this mean for the people of China?

What is China Like? I am going to show you two videos, both about China. For each video, you need to fill in the table based on your opinion.

Activities 1) What impression did video 1 give you about China? 2) What impression did video 2 give you about China? Extension – Write a brief paragraph explaining whether you would like to visit China or not and why.

Beijing? What is Bejing? It is not just China that has this big split between rich and poor, but also the cities themselves. Let’s take a quick tour of Beijing…
