ICT KM in Fashion Education Libraries are to cater the needs of fashion community through ICT by providing/subscribing: Fashion e-resources e.g., Fashion portals, Fashion blogs Online forecast services Online resources for fashion and allied areas

Traditional Library Digital Library Virtual Library The shift from traditional libraries to the digital is not merely a technological evolution, but requires a change in the paradigm by which people access and interact with information. ICT KM in Libraries: a paradigm shift

Evaluating e-Resources Objective: To determine the usage of e-resources available in PAF Libraries. Methodology: An online/direct survey was conducted in PAF libraries across its various centres in India Delhi, Chennai and Jaipur. Scope: PAF UG and PG students from design, retail, textiles, and others departments across various centres in India. Using the “Usability Evaluation Model by Jeng 2005 in our survey.

54% of the students access electronic resources 34% of students accessing print resources. Electronic resources Vs Print resources PAF Survey

Frequently used e-Resources PAF Survey

52% of the respondents access WGSN 25% of respondents accessing Nelly Rodi 15% for Stylesight.com and 8% for others. Forecasts Services PAF Survey

 40% - host website is slow  35% - appropriate software is not available.  25% - searching instructions are very complicated. Problems faced in accessing electronic resources

Traditional library is slowly being replaced by e-resources Undergraduate students are more dependant upon online- resources: especially Forecast services, e.g., WGSN. Postgraduate students are more dependant upon databases, e.g., Proquest, fiber2fashion. Students have shown their keen interest in using online resources for creating their final collection in catwalk. Host sites should provide simple and user friendly search tools. User orientation: bringing awareness of e-resources and the technology. Findings

New Challenges in Fashion Education Solutions Lack of awareness about availability of resources Students should be instructed and guided about relevant e-resources Students hail from varied backgrounds Periodic orientation on: Technological advancements Availability and Use of e-resources Challenges Scarcity of structured data on fashion and allied areas. Forecast resources/e- journals/databases/ e-reports are to be subscribed and archive materials may be digitized.

ICT forms a significant step in taking forward Knowledge Centers to meet the ever changing demands of the fashion student community. e-Resources helps the budding designers to access the updated information easily. Conclusions

Libraries should provide updated infrastructure for the continuous development of e-resources in a higher education environment. specific electronic sources search strategies information needs Further research is required, to investigate how the faculty members actually interact with information, what specific electronic sources they visit more than others, what search strategies they use, as well as the extent to which their information needs are satisfied.
