ART ACADEMY ENSURING OUTSTANDING TEACHING IN ART & DESIGN

FEATURED ARTIST: JULIAN OPIE Julian Opie is a British modern artist born in London in 1958 He is most famous for his minimally detailed art work Julian Opie has established himself as one of the leading contemporary artists in the world.

He became famous in 2000 for his design for the Album cover for the pop group Blur. Opie’s portraits usually have button eyes, two dots as a nose, a long upper line and shorter lower line as a mouth and two brushstrokes as eyebrows Opie takes his inspiration from the Tintin cartoons by Herge

Since 2000, Opie’s style of portraiture has become very popular across the world.

Julian Opie’s style is a very distinctive one, using as few lines as possible, & with limited colours & textures.
